Edge Cottage
Alderley Edge, CheshireAn architecturally stunning contemporary new build home, set in the sprawling Cheshire green belt, surrounded by open countryside and gardens.
A newly formed kitchen and living area transformed the heart of the house, with sweeping views of the gardens. The morning room, a comfortable seating area with log burner, serves as a perfect additional seating area for entertaining and dining.
In the summer months, the unsupported corner-opening Sky-Frame of the stunning contemporary entertainment building is pulled back; the floor tiles flow seamlessly, blurring the boundaries between inside and out.
The home also features a fully intregrated Crestron & Lutron home automation system throughout, which begins to ‘wake up’ the house 20 minutes before the morning alarm; gradually fading the lights up and raising the blinds.
Throughout the project, the preservation of the integrity of the existing period cottage was paramount. The subtle juxtaposition of old and new can be seen in the newly formed vaulted glass entrance with a solid oak frame. The space is clean, white and flooded with natural light; the focal point a bespoke plastered staircase connecting one elevation to another. An elegant lighting sculpture adds an impressive and captivating focal point to a symmetrical space.
The project was recognised at an international award-winning level after being awarded the UK’s ‘Best Interior Design Private Residence' at the International Property Awards 2018-19, Best User Interface 2019 Crestron and Best Global Smart Home at the CEDIA awards 2019.
