Forest Cottage

Working with Architects and Interior Designers, the house was completely redesigned to be more suitable for our clients. The existing ground floor and first floors were removed in order to enable a complete redesign of the internal layout. This was done to maximize floor space, as well as head room, by reducing the ground floor level and introducing a new internal steel frame so that the depth of the first floor construction could be kept to a minimum.

An impressive oak framed extension was constructed to the front of the property to create a new entrance hallway. A bespoke curved staircase that was built by our joiners is the star feature of this space, and leads up to a new master suite that includes a large bedroom, ensuite and dressing room.

The original external wall to the rear of the property was opened up, and a new contemporary extension, which included Skyframe open-corner glazing, was added to house a new large kitchen / living area. The view was taken by the Architects to introduce a modern, contemporary extension, that not only helps to preserve the integrity of the original period cottage, but also creates a visual link to a new large, modern entertainment building which we also constructed on the site. This extension to the main kitchen / dining area was carefully designed and constructed with the new ground and 1st floor levels so that the new ceiling ran seamlessly through from the existing cottage and new kitchen area, into the newly created dining area within the extension. The change to the internal layout also allowed for a new study space to be created, and the original entrance formed a new boot room, along with a second kitchen, utility and pantry area.

Forest Cottage was recognised at an International award-winning level after being awarded the UK’s ‘Best Interior Design Private Residence' at the International Property Awards 2018-19.
