Modern Pavilion
CheshireCria Construction were appointed to construct a contemporary and stylish entertainment pavilion as an extension to our client’s impressive home, for themselves and their multi-generational family to gather in and enjoy.
The pavilion was linked to the original house via a “frameless” structural glass link, creating a clear distinction between the two buildings through a minimal and elegant intervention.
Seamless indoor / outdoor living was of high importance for our client, and the design of the building featured a very tall and elegant Sky-Frame, around 3.2m high, which was set within a cantilevered brise soleil. This was automated so that our client could open up their living space to the outside at just the touch of a button, and was fully integrated with their AV system. The Sky-Frame glazing retracts into a pocket wall when open, making the space feel truly expansive.
Our client was very knowledgeable about design, and wanted to include only the best products and highest quality materials, systems, fittings and furniture. The brick was specially selected and sourced from Denmark, and extra large format ceramic tiles measuring 2.4m in length were used inside and out. The architectural lighting, integrated sound system, and the tracks for the voile curtains were plastered into the ceiling to create a minimal and modern aesthetic.
A sleek and stylish Bulthaup bar was installed, with Rimadesio display storage and Gaggenau appliances; the statement metal grid door was also by Rimadesio, providing a high level of design detail with metal finishes matching and complementing throughout. The indoor and outdoor living areas were completed with furniture from Minotti, and state of the art Bang & Olufsen audio and visual technology.
An outdoor fireplace was integrated within the structure of the building, creating a wonderful feature to view from the house, and experience when relaxing and entertaining on the patio.
The roof was visible from the first floor of the main house, and so even a flat zinc roof was not going to meet the high bar set. A complex low pitched roof was designed with our specialist zinc supplier, ensuring the building looked impressive from all angles.
An extensive new landscaping scheme was developed, and numerous large lime trees planted to provide structure to the border of the lawn and provide privacy. Due to the location, all large elements including building materials and trees had to be craned over the house to the rear garden.
